This Turmeric Porridge is gently spiced with cinnamon, ginger and turmeric, drenched in creamy almond milk and topped with a healthy selection of tasty sprinkles. It’s my take on golden milk, but in oatmeal form!

Golden milk is the term given to milk infused with turmeric which gives it the wonderful gold colour. Turmeric is known for its numerous health benefits, including its anti-inflammatory actions. A great addition to many meals and snacks due to its subtle flavour, but be warned, the colour has the potential to stain white stuff so don’t wear your nice gear when prepping or eating (if you’re a messy eater)!
Questions about Turmeric Porridge
How to make Turmeric Porridge? To make Turmeric Porridge, the ingredients required are milk (or water if you prefer), oats, sweetner and sprinkles. Add the oats to a bowl and pour the milk on top along with the cinnamon, ginger and turmeric.
Are overnight oats good for you? Overnight oats are good for you due to the nutrients available in oats such as soluble fibre. Soaking the oats overnight also reduces the impact of the phytates naturally present in oats which can reduce the absorption of minerals such as iron and calcium.
What is golden milk? Golden milk is milk mixed with the spice turmeric. Turmeric has a very subtle earthy flavour and is commonly used in many curries and other Asian cuisine.
Can overnight oats be heated? Overnight oats can also be eaten hot. When removed from the fridge they can be placed in the microwave and heated directly or transferred to a saucepan and warmed in this way. The texture will be more gummy when heated compared to when eaten cold.
