I love matcha so much, it was only a matter of time before I made Matcha Porridge! A wonderfully bittersweet yet delicate tea flavour infused with milky oats – it’s matcha latte in oatmeal form!

Questions about Matcha Porridge
How do you make overnight oats? To make overnight oats, there are just two basic ingredients required: oats and milk. When the oats and milk are combined and left in the fridge overnight, they create a wonderfully creamy, in-tact porridge, without the gooey texture of heated oatmeal. The addition of flavours such as matcha, vanilla, cinnamon etc can be added along with the milk to diversify the taste.
Can I use water to make Matcha Porridge? Water can be used to make matcha porridge. However, the flavour and texture may vary slightly if milk is substituted for water.
What is matcha? Matcha is a specific type of green tea that is usually left for several days without sunlight during its growth to enhance the chlorophyll levels that are responsible for its rich green colour. Once the leaves are dried post-harvest, they are ground into a fine powder which is then typically mixed with water or milk and consumed as a beverage.
Can I microwave overnight oats? Overnight oats can be heated in the microwave or on the hob. Bear in mind however that the texture will be more smushy compared to the chilled version.
