Red Velvet Cake Balls

Advertisements

These healthy no-bake Red Velvet Cake Balls are not only vegan, but also gluten-free, flourless and come with a protein boost. Super simple and easy, they don’t even require any cooking. Although best eaten from the fridge, they can be eaten simply straight from the blender by the spoonful – don’t even need to wait to shape them into balls!

This recipe is basically red velvet cake in vegan protein ball form. If you want to push the boat out, coat with cashew frosting (I have a great recipe for this from my Mole Cake) or some melted white chocolate. They are also pink and pretty and perfectly mouthful size for convenient eating!

Questions about Red Velvet Cake Balls

How to make Red Velvet Cake Balls

To make Red Velvet Cake Balls, place all ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth.

Remove and shape into balls. Dust with shredded coconut. Chill in fridge for 30 minutes.

What flavour is red velvet cake?

Red velvet cake doesn’t really have a particular flavour, but rather a slightly acidic yet sweet taste from tangy buttermilk and sweet frosting. The addition of cocoa powder gives it a mild chocolate undertone. This healthy red velvet cake recipe gets it’s tanginess from lemon and sweetness from dates with a hint of cocoa. The beetroot powder adds colour as well as a slight earthy flavour.
