Easy Vegan French Toast

Advertisements

This Easy Vegan French Toast is made with a creamy chickpea batter infused with vanilla, giving it a protein boost and some added fibre. Gluten-free bread also works perfectly in this recipe. So simple, quick and ready in a matter of minutes. The batter can even be prepared in advance.

I really thought my days of French toast as a vegan were over – I was so wrong! I can’t deny that I miss having that slight eggy taste in the background while I munch, though in any vegan version, if you dig that, just add black salt (which is actually pink) for an eggy flavour from this special sulphur salt.

Questions about Easy Vegan French Toast

How to make Easy Vegan French toast?

To make easy vegan French toast, whisk together protein powder, chickpea flour, plant milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup and rapeseed oil in a bowl into a smooth batter. Soak individual slices of bread in the batter, allowing excess to drip off then fry in a hot pan for 6 minutes, flipping over halfway until crisp on the outside. Serve with desired sprinkled and sauces.

How to make French Toast without eggs?

French toast is possible without the use of eggs. Eggless French toast however, to get a texture that’s similar to the real deal, should use a good combination of protein and fat to imitate the components of the egg, which are the egg yolk and egg white. In this recipes, I have used chickpea flour, protein powder and rapeseed oil.

Can I use any bread to make French Toast?

Many types of bread can be used to make French toast, such as gluten-free bread, wholegrain bread, oat bread, even banana bread.
